“Melbourne lockdown cake queen Rosemary Andrews is opening her first shop.

Mietta by Rosemary is set to open in Malvern, selling cakes, bakes and other sweet treats from early next month.

Andrews is a rising star in the city’s pastry circles, loved by many for her artful dessert boxes and dazzling “dessert trolley of dreams” at Attica Summer Camp pop-up in 2021.

The pastry chef has signed a six-month lease on the Glenferrie Rd shop, which she’s hoping leads to bigger and better things.”

— Herald Sun, kara Monssen

“Andrews describes her sweets as “classic bakes with a little contemporary finesse”, designed to showcase the beauty of individual ingredients. At Mietta, you’ll find her hit eight-layer carrot cake, seven-layer honey-misu cake, cheesecake, two-texture chocolate cake and more.

Opening her own bricks-and-mortar store is a “huge level up”, she says. If the six-month pop-up is successful, she plans to work with a property developer to open in a bigger location with dine-in space, more products and an expanded pastry team.

Mietta by Rosemary Andrews opens in December.”

— Broadsheet, melbourne

“After wowing Melburnians with a Wes Anderson-esque dessert trolley at Attica Summer Camp nearly three years ago, pastry chef Rosemary Andrews has slowly and steadily built a following through selling her cakes on Instagram and at pop-ups. But a permanent portal to her impressive pastry creations remained elusive.

Come December, that will change, when Andrews turns the key to her very own shop,

Mietta by Rosemary in Malvern.”

“Mietta is also a good opportunity to evolve from the Instagram platform to see how the community responds to a long-term bricks-and-mortar business. I have a six-month lease there and hopefully it will be a stepping stone to another property and my dream bakery.”

Andrews has worked across some of the country’s top venues including Ezard, Tivoli Road Bakery, and as head pastry chef of Attica Summer Camp alongside Ben Shewry.”

Rosemary Andrews, the famed ex-pastry head chef of Ben Shewry’s Attica Summer Camp, is opening a dessert-dedicated, long-term pop-up store in Malvern. Still being fitted out,

Mietta By Rosemary will be a minimal and monochrome store, with the spotlight on an art-gallery-like cake display.

After refining her pastry skills at some of Melbourne’s best (EZARD, Tivoli Rd Bakery and Attica), and working alongside culinary talent in London (Gordon Ramsay, The Ledbury and Dinner by Heston Blumenthal) Rosemary Andrews is taking centre stage.”
